“What can I do to help?”
That’s the question that keeps coming up for me as I listen to the news about coronavirus.
Sadly, I have no magic antidote, no expert guidance around how to avoid COVID-19, but I do know one thing, and that’s how people react, and more specifically how their motivations change, in times of crisis.
Certainly, we are all facing tough dilemmas right now and we are doing all we can just to keep our heads above water. But it also means we are needing to step into our leadership personas more than ever to bring people together and lead from the front. As you might imagine though, this may already be depleting our energy reserves.
I am mindful that we can’t rely on these energy reserves forever, and so we now need to think about how we can harness our motivations in order to replenish us. This is always true, but very easy to forget during such testing times.
I have put together a video for you which shares some of my thinking to help you and the teams you work with to get through this – together.
For those of you who are time poor you can find a shorter video here (it’s only 4 minutes).
However if you have time, I urge you to take a look at the longer video here (13 minutes).
I do truly hope it will help you during this difficult and unprecedented time.
Please do share them if you find them useful and of course I would love to hear your feedback on how you are bringing your team together at this difficult time.
If you would like to reach out to us you can do so via LinkedIn or by emailing me directly on Kate.turner@motivationalleadership.co.uk. I would be glad to help.
Wishing you well and safe health.
